John Mountford has specialised in advanced contact lens design and fitting since 1976. He has designed custom lenses for Keratoconus, Post Corneal Transplant, Ocular Surface Disease (extreme dry eye), Cosmetic Ocular Prosthesis, Orthokeratology and the new generation of myopia control lenses. Some of his lens designs are sold world-wide under the trade names BE (orthokeratology), ICD Mini-Scleral (keratoconus) and KBA (keratoconus). He pioneered the fitting of aphakic infants in Queensland (with Professor Glen Gole) over twenty years ago, and also designed the multifocal lenses used for the fitting.
He has lectured in both Australia and internationally on advanced contact lens design and fitting, dry eye treatment, myopia control and Orthokeratology.
